A 0.15 kg baseball is traveling horizontally toward home plate at 40 m/s. A batter hits the ball straight back toward the pitcher at 50 m/s.

  1. What is the change in momentum (Delta p) of the baseball? (Pay attention to vector direction signs).

  2. If the bat was in contact with the ball for 0.002 s, calculate the average net force exerted on the ball during the hit.
